The Gripper conveyor is designed to get a firm hold of cans or similar items, enabling them to be passed safely both vertically and horizontally. Often used in the food industry - they are typically constructed using stainless steel, so they are easy to keep clean, and resistant to corrosion.
One of the latest systems to be delivered by Autarky involved conveying cans between factory floors. Being in the food industry, the end user required stainless steel construction so the choice of conveyors was simple. the Autarky Gripper Conveyor.
The system provides exceptional performance with quiet operation and reduced maintenance, essential when being installed over 3m above the ground floor.
The next challenge was to automate the Gripper adjustment for various product diameters.
We solved this by using 24vdc motors with encoder feedback, locally controlled units and networked with Profinet back to the man PLC. This provided the operators the facility to quickly change the system for various product sizes and allow for future changes by simply changing the dimensions on the local HMI.
